Men's soccer falls short at Grinnell

GRINNELL, Iowa - Garrett Pochop continued his goal-scoring tear but the Simpson men's soccer team couldn't capitalize on its opportunities in a 2-1 loss to Grinnell on Wednesday.

The Pioneers (3-3-0) used two goals from Nick Brule - one on a penalty kick - to put Simpson in a two-goal hole. Pochop scored his seventh goal of the season in the 70th minute, but Simpson couldn't find the equalizer.

The Storm (3-2-1) outshot Grinnell 15-6 and put nine shots on goal, losing to the Pioneers for the first time since 2010.

Major May made eight saves for Grinnell while Chris Harris and Colton Nickell split time in goal for the Storm. Harris finished with two saves and Nickell had one.
