WAVERLY, Iowa — An own goal just over 2 minutes into overtime lifted the Simpson men's soccer team to a 3-2, come-from-behind win over Wartburg in the Iowa Conference opener on Saturday.
Simpson trailed 2-1 late in the second half when Nick Joslyn headed in a Colin Robinson corner kick in the 81st minute, forcing the extra frame. The own goal came in the 93rd minute for the Storm (6-2-1), who won their third straight.
Goalkeeper Chris Harris surrendered two goals but had another solid performance, making eight saves.
The Knights (4-3-1) trailed 1-0 before Daniel Luzindya tied it up in the 57th minute. Nathan Feiner made it 2-1 when he took the second assist of the game from Paris Martins in the 72nd minute.
Darius Doswell opened the scoring, heading in a goal in the 21st minute for the only score of the first half.
Wartburg outshot Simpson 25-11, putting 10 shots on goals to Simpson's five.
