Storm claim second victory of the season, win the Brissman-Lundeen Invite
ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - For a second time this season, the Simpson women's cross country took home the team title, this time winning the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational on Saturday.
For the third straight race, Teghan Booth was the frontrunner for the Storm, taking home second overall in the event. In the three events in the year, Booth has finished first, third and now second. Led by Booth's performance, the Storm captured a critical victory over regionally ranked Augustana
Angel Schewe, Taitlin Koch, and Emily Escoto all finished within 10 seconds of each other, taking home 11th, 12th, and 13th respectively. Schewe and Escoto both set personal bests in the 6K this season. Kate Huisinga, Mya Whitaker, and Elie Tuhn rounded out the top seven finishers for the Storm, and all placed in the top-25.
"Our women ran really well today and I'm thrilled with where we are at this point in the season," said head coach Heath Moenck. "We lost five of our top seven women from a year ago to graduation but our women haven't allowed our expectations to be lowered. Angel Schewe, Emily Escoto, and Kate Huisinga all took big steps forward today."
