Glanz collects two top-three places for Storm

OSKALOOSA, Iowa -- The Simpson College track and field teams competed in the William Penn Invitational on Friday in a tune-up for its own invitational next week inside Buxton Stadium.

Jamie Glanz earned gold in the javelin to pace the Storm for their only top honor. Glanz had a distance of 31.50 meters and also finished third in the high jump.

Audrey Arnold had a busy day with two top-three placings. Arnold finished in 15.47 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles for second and leaped 4.86 meters in the long jump for third.

Abby Loecke earned a personal best in the 800 with a mark of 2:26.20 for third. Kaya Young earned fourth in the 1,500 meters and Katelyn Mangold sprinted to fourth in the 400.

The quartet of Makayla Baker, Mangold, Glanz and Arnold recorded second in the 4x400-meter relay.

On the men's side, Carter Berkey floated 6.62 meters in the long jump for a runner-up performance. Craig Garrison ended third in the 200-meters and remained in the top 10 in the 100-meter dash for seventh.

Ryan Courtney ran in wet shoes to capture third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase while Shane Breheny was right behind him for sixth place.

The team of Steven Cruz-Castro, Ulysses Patterson, Max Cleveland and Garrison captured third in the 4x400-meter relay.

Up Next
The Kip Janvrin Invitational will take place next Friday inside Buxton Stadium. Instead of the normal two-day event, the meet will take place solely on Friday in Indianola.
