Storm women compete in A-R-C Indoor Championships

WAVERLY, Iowa -- The Simpson College women's track and field team collected eighth place at the American Rivers Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday, hosted at Wartburg College.

Jamie Glanz had herself a busy afternoon by competing in the pentathlon for the Storm. Glanz was eight points shy of landing on the podium after scoring 2,882 to end fourth for the team's best performance as she almost collected all-conference honors. Glanz ended third in the shot put and collected three fourth-place nods in the high jump, long jump and 800 meters to boost her score.

Glanz grabbed another top-10 placing at the championships by ending sixth in the high jump. The senior leaped 1.51 meters for a season best.

The distance medley relay squad of Kaya Young, Katelyn Mangold, Abby Loecke and Mackenzie Laughlin recorded four team points by capturing fifth. The quartet ran a time 13:17.77.

Audrey Arnold, Cat Lucht, and Laughlin all tallied eighth-place performances in their respective events. Arnold clocked a time of 9.96 after reaching the finals in the 60-meter hurdles, Lucht ran the 5,000 meters in 19:08.52 and Laughlin finished the mile in 5:44.41. Arnold also ended 11th in the long jump event.

Macie Bopp, Emily Erhardt, Sophie Hall and Kyli Orr just missed top-10 marks for Simpson. Bopp and Erhardt ended 11th and 12th, respectively, in the mile, while Hall ended 11th in the 5,000 meters and Orr grabbed 11th in the 3,000.

Both of the Storm's relays crossed the finish in eighth place against a strong group of conference competitors. In the 4x400-meter relay, Makayla Baker, Arnold, Glanz and Bopp raced to a time of 4:45.12. The group of Loecke, Mangold, Young and Laughlin finished in 10:50.48 for Simpson.

Alexis Crozier led the Storm in the throwing events by finishing 16th in the shot put and 17th in the weight throw.
