Storm drop dual meet to Loras

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Simpson College swimming and diving teams dropped dual meet decisions to Loras on Saturday afternoon.

The Storm got good individual performances in multiple events, but the Duhawks ended up winning the majority of the individual events to pull away on both sides.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Simpson picked up two individual event wins, with Breana Hinson winning the 100 yard butterfly in a time of 1:05.90 for the women and Jay Ceperley winning the 200 yard freestyle in 1:56.52 for the men.
  • Ceperley also took second in the men's 100 yard butterfly in 1:00.25.
  • The Storm relays had a good day, with the quartet of Isabelle Gomez, Katelyn Smith, Hinson, and Keelin Curley swimming a 2:10.70 in the 200 yard medley relay to set a season-best by eight seconds.
  • Curley was joined by Katie Oosterhuis, Kate Minette, and Maude Steinbeck to win the 200 yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:48.94.
  • Minette finished second in both of her individual events, swimming a 25.71 in the 50 yard freestyle and a 1:09.10 in the 100 yard backstroke.
  • A trio of other Storm women recorded second place finishes, highlighted by Oosterhuis's career-best 2:34.93 in the 200 yard individual medley.
  • Curley swam a 1:00.31 for the silver in the 100 yard freestyle while Steinbeck clocked a 6:06.24 for second in the 500 yard freestyle.

  • Women's 100 Yard Butterfly - Breana Hinson (1:05.90)
  • Men's 200 Yard Freestyle - Jay Ceperley (1:00.25)
  • Men's 100 Yard Freestyle (Unopposed) - Christopher Olds (11:52.49)

The Storm have a break until Nov. 10, when the team visits Nebraska Wesleyan to take on the Prairie Wolves in a dual meet.
