Crockett tabbed A-R-C Female Athlete of the Week

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Simpson softball player Megan Crockett was named as the American Rivers Conference Female Athlete and Softball Position Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, April 21, the league office announced Monday.

The Bryant, Iowa native belted three home runs during the week, with two coming in a 9-5 win over Wartburg on Saturday. Crockett went 7-for-11 at the plate to help the Storm go 3-1 in conference play with two doubles. She drove in seven runners and scored on six occasions.

Crockett joins teammate, Emily Bell, as the second recipient of a conference award this season for the Storm softball squad. Bell was named A-R-C Pitcher of the Week on March 25.

Simpson currently sits at 18-14 and 5-7 in league play host Grinnell on Tuesday in a doubleheader that starts at 5 p.m. The squad resumes conference play with a twinbill against Coe on Wednesday at the Simpson Softball Complex, with the first game slated to start at 2 p.m.
