Adeniyi achieves all-region status

NEW ORLEANS -- Simpson men's track and field senior Sam Adeniyi was named to the All-Central Region for his performance in the heptathlon, announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Monday.

Adeniyi's result of 4,667 points at the American Rivers Conference Indoor Championships is the fourth-best finish in the region. The Roseville, Minn. native won the heptathlon gold at the A-R-C Indoor Championships to become the Storm's first indoor title winner since 2018.

Adeniyi and the rest of the Simpson track and field teams start their outdoor campaign on Friday, April 3 in the Central Invitational.

To earn All-Region honors, a student-athlete must be one of the top-five individuals in their event in their respective region. In addition, each member of a region's top-three relay team was selected for the distinction.

The eight regions used in NCAA DIII are the Atlantic Region, Central Region, Great Lakes Region, Mideast Region, Midwest Region, New England Region, South/Southeast Region and the West Region.
