Quartet lead Simpson men at Wartburg

WAVERLY, Iowa --- Sam Adeniyi, Craig Garrison, Spencer Moon and Mason Spree each won their respective events to lead the Simpson track and field teams at the Wartburg Select Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

The men garnered third out of seven teams by finishing with 99 points and the women ended sixth.

On Friday, Adeniyi set a spark for the Storm by ending the first day in first in the heptathlon. Adeniyi then used Saturday to round out the competition to capture first place by scoring 4,555 points with wins in three events.

Spencer Moon continued his hot streak with a gold medal in the mile. Moon finished in 4:21.28 earning him the fifth-fastest time in program history for the event.

For the 400-meter dash, Craig Garrison sprinted his way into first with a time of 51.58 seconds. Garrison also had a third-place nod in the 60-meter dash. Elliott Meyer tallied second place in the 60-meter hurdles.

Mackenzie Laughlin paced the Simpson women by claiming sixth in the 800 meters. Laughlin crossed the finish in 2:31.25. In the women's mile, Cat Lucht and Kyli Orr both ranked within the top 10.

Off the track, Mason Spree won the weight throw with a launch of 15.33 meters. In addition, Spree tallied third in the shot put. Cameron Sand soared into third place in the pole vault.
