Storm men climb regional rankings

NEW ORLEANS -- The Simpson men's track and field squad moved up five spots to eighth in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Central Region standings.

The Storm made the jump after finishing tied for second at the Darren Young Indoor Classic on Saturday for the team's highest ranking since ending the 2017 slate in seventh. Simpson has finished second on two occasions and tallied a third-place nod during its indoor schedule this winter to land near the top in the region.

The American Rivers Conference boasts five teams in the top 10 in the region as the Storm tallied the largest improvement since the last poll was released. Loras, Wartburg, Nebraska Wesleyan and Dubuque hold the second through fifth spots and Central is just on the outskirts on the top 10 in 11th.

Competition resumes this Friday for Simpson at the Dubuque Invitational.
