Storm track and field finish indoor season

WAVERLY, Iowa -- The Simpson men's track and field team closed out its indoor campaign on Saturday at the Wartburg Qualifier.

The Storm had four individuals vying for a chance to reach the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships, but fell short of advancing.

In the heptathlon, Sam Adeniyi finished with 3,894 points scored during the two-day event. Adeniyi jumped 1.92 meters in the high jump for the event record, passing former teammate Isaac Frazier, who soared 1.91 meters on March 3, 2017.

Caleb Striegel ended his indoor career with a 15.35-meter throw in the shot put for eighth and ended 18th in the weight throw. Mason Spree produced a 15.78-meter toss in the weight throw to end 12th.

Craig Garrison was the lone sprinter for Simpson as he ended eighth in the 200 and 12th in the 60-meter race. In the mile, Spencer Moon carded 14th with a time of 4:23.21.
