
Men’s gymnastics set for 2025 season opener
INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Simpson College men's gymnastics team is poised to kick off the 2025 season this Saturday, facing Michigan and Greenville in Ann Arbor, Mich.
The Storm return an experienced squad, with 18 gymnasts back from a breakout 2024 campaign that saw the team improve their all-around average by nearly 14 points from their inaugural season. Picked to finish sixth in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Preseason Poll, Simpson aims to continue its upward trajectory with the addition of four talented newcomers.
2024 SEASON REVIEW
- The Storm recorded a season average of 362.517, nearly 14 points better than their first season average in 2023.
- Simpson broke the program record in four of six events and reset its highest single-meet team score with a 376.350 against Greenville on Feb. 3. The Storm also set new program highs on still rings (63.000), vault (68.550), parallel bars (62.050) and high bar (60.850).
- Five individuals qualified for the NCAA Championships: Milo Staley (all-around), Michelangelo Villani (all-around), Alex Catchpole (pommel horse and parallel bars), Brian Rollison (still rings), and Jake Smith (high bar).
- Catchpole (parallel bars), Sterling Pariza (all-around, parallel bars) and Michelangelo Villani (all-around) all achieved USAG All-America honors.
Rollison (rings), Camden Bontempo (vault), Catchpole (parallel bars), Jake Sweeten (high bar) and Pariza (all-around) all cemented their names as record holders of events.
