Jones raises vault record at Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Braxton Jones rewrote the record books once again, scoring a 14.450 on vault to shatter his own school record as the Simpson College men's gymnastics team wrapped up its final head-to-head meet of the season against Springfield on Sunday.

Jones' dominant vault earned him the gold medal, one of four event titles secured by the Storm. Alex Catchpole claimed first on parallel bars, Brian Rollison tied for the top spot on rings, and Jake Smith captured the all-around title.

Eric Simon added a pair of third place finishes in the team's final two rotations, scoring two new career highs in the process. Catchpole secured third on pommel horse and Alex Campbell tied for third on rings.

The Storm compiled a team score of 292.450, with their high mark coming on vault, a season-best 54.650. Jones led the way followed by Smith (13.750) and Milo Staley (13.550), who both recorded season highs.
