Volleyball lands three on all-conference squad
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Simpson College volleyball team had three players land on the All-American Rivers Conference Volleyball Team for the second year in a row.
Seniors Jessica Jacobs and Marissa Salber earned first team honors, while junior Iman Ghalibaf was selected honorable mention. The trio led the Storm to a 13-12 overall record, the team's highest win total since 2014 and the first winning season since 2013.
Jessica Jacobs, First Team
- Selected to first team for the second consecutive season
- Repeated as the conference leader in total kills (158) and kills per set (4.65) during A-R-C play
- Topped the league in overall kills per set (4.10) while ranking third in season kills (381)
- Ranked first in the A-R-C in overall points (440.5) as well as points during league season (179)
- Recorded the 10th-best hitting percentage in A-R-C action (.246)
- Ended the season with 15 straight games in double-digit kills, notching 21 altogether
- Surpassed 20 kills on five occasions and had one double-double thanks to a career-high 13 digs
- Tied for sixth with 42 overall aces and fifth with 16 aces against conference foes
Marissa Salber, First Team
- Named to first team after being selected to honorable mention team as a junior
- Ranked second in the conference in total assists (330) and assists per set (9.71) in league play
- Overall, came in fourth with 8.28 assists per set and fifth with 778 total assists, both career-highs
- Also tied for 11th in the A-R-C with 38 total aces, including 12 against conference foes (t-13th in A-R-C)
- Tallied double figure assists in each contest, helping Simpson to its best team hitting percentage since 2014
- Registered nine double-doubles
Iman Ghalibaf, Honorable Mention
- Earned honorable mention accolades for the second straight season
- Led the conference with 174 digs during league play and ranked second with 5.12 per set
- Overall, totaled 433 digs for an average of 4.66 per set, both career-bests
- Reached double-digit digs in all but one conference contest and 20 of Simpson's 25 matches
- Added 85 assists, 21 aces and five kills throughout the season, including 38 assists, eight aces and four kills against A-R-C foes
