Storm end season at Liberal Arts Championships

ELSAH, Ill. -- The Simpson swimming and diving teams closed out their seasons on Saturday on the final day of the Liberal Arts Championships at Principia College.

The Storm men ended eighth as Danny Turner scored 23 points. The women finished 10th with the help from Alyssa Harris' 54 points.

Turner narrowly missed out on his second program record at the event, this time coming in the 200-yard breaststroke. The freshman swam a 2:09.07 in the prelims to miss the previous mark of 2:09.00. Turner wrapped up the event in 2:09.83 for third place.

Harris hit the wall in 2:21.73 for eighth in the 200-yard backstroke. The sophomore grabbed eighth place in the prelims to land a spot in the finals after a pace of 2:21.43 for a season best.

The relay of Caroline Oberg, Katie Cardoza, Madison DePover and Harris finished ninth in the 400-yard freestyle. The quartets' time of 4:01.90 clipped six seconds off the team's previous season best in the race.

DePover and Cardoza finished back-to-back in the 1,650 freestyle after cruising to personal bests.

Austin Andes finished his career today as the lone senior for Simpson. Andes had a career-best 51.90 in the 100-yard freestyle.
