Storm trio earn first-place results against Loras

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- A trio of Simpson swimmers garnered first-place results as the Storm swimming and diving teams took on the Loras Duhawks on Friday night. The Simpson women were upended 113-64 and the men fell 125-10 at the Indianola YMCA.

Caroline Oberg captured a season-best time in the 50-yard freestyle as she hit the wall in 26.33 seconds for first. Oberg ended with a second-place result in the 100-yard freestyle in 1:00.00 to trim two seconds off her previous best.

Sarah Prendergast raced to first in the 500-yard freestyle after a mark of 5:51.04, seven seconds quicker than her previous-best time set on Nov. 2. Prendergast tallied second in the 50 freestyle after Oberg. Alyssa Harris received the team's third first-place nod during the dual, this time coming in the 100-yard butterfly. Harris also ended second in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Madison DePover accounted for two third-place results in the 100 and 1,000-yard freestyle races. Wynter Knowler earned second in the 200 and 500 freestyle events to help the women. The quartet of Katie Cardoza, Harris, Oberg and Prendergast finished in 2:03.71 in the 200-yard individual medley for second place.

On the men's side, Austin Andes guided the Storm with a second-place result in the 100-yard breaststroke. Andes ended his night with third-place finishes in the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly races.

Simpson heads to Grinnell, Iowa on Friday, Dec. 6 for the Pioneer Classic. Competition runs through the weekend and ends on Saturday, Dec. 7.
