DePover, Oberg highlight home finale for Simpson

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- Austin Andes was honored on senior day as the Simpson swimming and diving teams competed at the Indianola YMCA against Morningside on Saturday.

The Storm women lost 163.5-24.5 and the men fell 162-27 to the Mustangs in Simpson's last home dual of the season.

Danny Turner hit the wall in 1:01.56 to capture first place in the 100-yard breaststroke for the Storm's only top finish. Turner also turned in a second-place nod in the 50 and 100 freestyle races. Andes tallied fourth in the 100 and 200 freestyle events.

Madison DePover came within nine tenths of a second of earning the lone victory for the Storm women. DePover hit the wall in 12:47.80 in the 1,000-yard freestyle after a strong surge on the final 25 yards. DePover also ended second in the 100 breaststroke.

Caroline Oberg tallied two second-place nods for Simpson, both coming in freestyle events. In the 100, Oberg tallied a mark of 27.19 seconds and a time of 1:00.68 in the 100.

The quartet of Angela Eppens, Katie Cardoza, Oberg and DePover finished third in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 2:00.67.
