Streicher claims runner-up finish at BVU Fall Invite

STORM LAKE, Iowa - The Simpson College men's and women's golf teams were led by two familiar faces this season as each team participated in the Buena Vista Fall Invite this past weekend. Madeline Streicher took second place overall for the women, while Jack Wahman finished tied for eighth on the men's side.

Streicher used a marvelous Sunday to cement her spot on the leaderboard, firing a final round 78. Streicher's 78 was the second-lowest round of her collegiate career, leading to a two-day total of 163. Only two other golfers in the 30 golfer field had a round below 80.

Wahman also used a strong second day to vault up the leaderboard, shooting a one-over 73 to move up from 17th to a tie for eighth. Wahman's 152 two-day total lifted the Simpson men to a sixth place finish. The freshman has now put together back-to-back final rounds of 74 and 73 in his last two tournaments.

The women also had two other golfers finish in the top 20. Taylor Elam fired a two-day total of 185 to tie for 14th, while Madison Wardlow was right behind her in 18th with a tournament total of 187.

For the men, three more golfers came in right around the top 30 mark in a field of over 50 golfers. Blake Perrin fired an 81 on each day for a two-day total of 162, while Nick Campbell and Isaac Roe each carded 163's. Campbell's final round 75 was his career-best round for the Storm.

Both squads return home to gear up for their home event, the Simpson Fall Invite. The one-day tournament will take place Wednesday at Indianola Country Club, with an approximate tee time of 10 a.m.
