Moon runs career best as Storm men end second

WAVERLY, Iowa -- Sophomore Spencer Moon ran a career best in an 8K on Saturday as the Simpson men's cross country team finished second behind Wartburg at the Dan Huston Triangular. The Storm scored 57 points to beat Central.

"Spencer Moon ran terrific today with some of the top runners in the country," said head coach Heath Moenck. "Our men ran tough against two very good programs, so it was rewarding to see them compete at such a high level. The exciting part is we still can run much better and are looking forward to the last four weeks of the season."

Moon recorded a time of 25:05.4 to finish fourth overall and become the first American Rivers Conference runner to end within the top six against the Knights this fall. He trimmed nearly 75 seconds off his previous best during an 8K.

Senior Harry Dudley grabbed his third straight second-place performance among Storm runners by tallying 11th. Sophomores Noah Nelsen and Eric Baldus collected 15th and 16th-place showings. Senior Ryan Courtney closed the scoring for Simpson by crossing the finish in 21st.
