Moon wins Loras Triangular, Simpson men finish second

DUBUQUE, Iowa -- Sophomore Spencer Moon won his second race of the year as the Simpson men's cross country team finished second to Loras by a point at the Loras Triangular on Saturday.

"While we would have loved to win today's meet, I'm thrilled with how we ran to show the improvement we have made over the last two weeks," said head coach Heath Moenck. "We have a talented squad and it was fun to see them compete with an outstanding Loras team."

Moon clocked a time of 26:19.0 to capture the victory ahead of a field of 46 runners. The Lake City, Iowa native finished 14 seconds ahead of the second-place runner for the Duhawks, Luke Guttormson, who finished seventh at the 2019 NCAA Division III Central Regional Championships.

Senior Harry Dudley crossed the finish in fifth for Simpson's second top-five placing, while sophomore Noah Nelsen ended sixth. Sophomore Eric Baldus captured eighth and senior Seth Nostrala closed the race in 10th to help the Storm earn 30 points and defeat Dubuque.
