Storm race in Coe Triangular this weekend

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- The Simpson men's and women's cross country teams will compete in the Coe Triangular on Saturday for the final meet before the American Rivers Conference Championship next month. Along with the Storm and Kohawks, Luther will be in attendance to fill out the field.

The women's race will begin at 2:30 p.m. and the men will follow at 3:15 p.m. with the meet being held at Seminole Valley Park in Cedar Rapids.

"We're excited for another opportunity to compete this weekend," said head coach Heath Moenck. "We know the importance of performing well at the meet before the conference championship and are eager to toe the starting line on Saturday after coming off our two best weeks of training. It has been a terrific season thus far and we're ready to continue it."

Simpson last competed in the Dan Huston Triangular on Saturday, Oct. 10 alongside Wartburg and Central. The men finished second behind the Knights, while the women ended third.

Spencer Moon finished fourth overall at the meet to become the first A-R-C runner to end inside the top seven against Wartburg. Moon's time of 25:05.4 is the fastest in his career during an 8K. Harry Dudley was the second Storm runner to cross the finish, while Noah Nelsen and Eric Baldus rounded out the top-20 placings for the squad.

During the women's race, Lara Kallem ended first for Simpson as she ran 23:57.5 for her quickest 6K mark this fall. Cat Lucht crossed right behind her teammate, with Kaya Young and Macie Bopp grabbing top-20 finishes.

The season will conclude on Nov. 7 as the A-R-C Championship will take place in Pella at the Central Cross Country Course.
