Storm challenge top-ranked Sooners in home finale

INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Simpson College men's gymnastics team returned to Cowles Fieldhouse to challenge top-ranked Oklahoma on Saturday, falling 400.600-360.950.

The Storm posted their highest score of the day on vault with a 66.050 and had two gymnasts earn a trio of medals. Brian Rollison tied for third on rings, while Sterling Pariza tied for third on parallel bars as the meet's only all-around competitor.

HIGHLIGHTS

• Sterling Pariza won his first all-around title with a score of 73.050. His highest score of the day was a 13.200 on both vault and parallel bars, with his parallel bars score good enough for third place
• Brian Rollison led the team for the fifth straight meet on rings with a 13.100, which was the third-highest score of the rotation.
• Jake Smith made his collegiate debut on floor and led the Storm with a 12.550. He also paced the home team on high bar (12.500) and finished top-3 for Simpson on rings (11.950) and vault (13.550).
• Jack Campbell set a new career high on floor (11.900), while Christian Romero recorded a personal best on pommel horse (12.000) and Connor Jenkins improved his career best on high bar (12.450).

UP NEXT
The Storm have next weekend off and will return to action on March 1 in Champaign, Ill. against Illinois and William & Mary.
