Storm break numerous records in 2024 debut

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Brian Rollison, Camden Bontempo and Sterling Pariza all set new program records as the Simpson College men's gymnastics team began year two with its second highest team score at the Michigan Tri-Meet.

The Storm tallied a 366.000 in their season opener, improving on last season's debut by nearly 25 points. Michigan won the meet with a 404.900, while Greenville took second with a 383.500.

HIGHLIGHTS

• Simpson broke the program record on still rings by over three points with a 61.350.
• The Storm also registered their highest-ever team score on parallel bars with a 61.950. The previous school record was 61.050, scored twice last season.
• In his collegiate debut, Brian Rollison set a new record on rings with a 13.650. He placed third in the event with that score.
• Camden Bontempo set a new career-high and program record on vault with a 14.300, finishing .2 points behind Greenville's Michael Avery who placed third.
• Sterling Pariza set new career highs on rings (13.000) and high bar (12.200) while posting the highest individual all-around score by a Simpson gymnast (76.900) to finish second.
• The Storm's score of 366.000 was the highest team score behind a 367.150 scored on Feb. 17, 2023.

"Today wasn't everything we wanted to start off the season, but from the first event we showed that this is a very different team than last year. There is a lot left in the tank and I'm excited to see how this team builds on this first meet."
