Storm notch another season-best score in Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Simpson men's gymnastics team saw another significant leap in its team score on Friday night, earning a 367.150 in a tri-meet with Nebraska and Oklahoma.

This is the third consecutive meet the Storm have reset their program record team score.

"Today was a roller coaster. Some of the best gymnastics this team has done," said head coach Colin Payne. "There are still several mistakes and improvements to be made, but this team just keeps getting better each weekend. I couldn't be more proud of the team these guys are building."

Simpson's entire floor and pommel horse lineups set career-bests, aiding the Storm to season-high scores of 63.75 on floor and 62.95 on pommel horse. Sterling Pariza and Camden Bontempo tied for the team high on floor with a 13.2 and Milo Staley led the way on pommel horse with a 13.3. All three scores are new program records.

The Storm also tied their season-high on parallel bars (61.05). Alex Catchpole broke his own school record with a 13.3 and Kyle Kincade chipped in a personal-best score of 12.7.

Michelangelo Villani was the team's highest scorer on rings (12.0) and vault (13.85), while Pariza led the Storm on high bar (12.05). He also registered a new career-high all-around score, placing third with a 74.4.

Simpson has a little over two weeks off and will return to Cowles Fieldhouse on March 5 for a tri-meet beginning at 1 p.m. The Storm will be joined by Springfield and Greenville.
