Simpson golfers begin spring slate

PANORA, Iowa -- The Simpson College men's and women's golf teams opened their spring slates on Monday at the Jimmie Spring Swing at the Lake Panorama National Golf Course.

After day one of competition, Brendan Bayer paced the men with a score of 84 to tie at 28th. Isaac Roe was next for the Storm with an 88, while Konner Johnson was back by three strokes. Lucas Hemphill carded a 93 and Brett Jansen tallied a 104.

For the women, Emily Jansen was tied in 24th to lead Simpson, while Sydney Stephenson was 27th. Hannah Mulligan rounded out the golfers for the Storm in 31st.

With day two being rained out for the Storm, both teams will return to action Tuesday, March 30 at the Iowa Wesleyan Invitational. Competition will take place at the Sheaffer Memorial Golf Course in Fort Madison, Iowa.
