Quartet leads Storm on home course

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- The Simpson men's golf team hosted its only invitational of the fall on Wednesday at the Indianola Country Club.

A quartet of Storm golfers finished within four strokes of each other as the squad ended ninth. Kirkwood Community College took home top honors, while Waldorf and North Iowa Area Community College finished in the shadows in second and third, respectively.

Senior Konner Johnson carded an 83 to lead the Storm on the scorecard, while senior Nathan Eaton and freshman Isaac Roe both shot an 85. While competing as an individual, freshman Brendan Bayeur trimmed six strokes off his previous season-low to finish with an 87.

Sophomore Luke Becker and junior Lucas Hemphill rounded out the team scores for Simpson. Sophomore Derek Maxfield and freshman Robbie Ferneding were on the improving end like Bayeur to secure new season lows. Sophomore Brett Jansen made his debut for the Storm as an individual.

The men travel to Ames, Iowa on Monday for the Des Moines Area Community College Invitational.
