
Men’s hoops earns academic award, five named to NABC Honors Court
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced the Simpson College men's basketball team as a recipient of the 2021-22 NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards on Tuesday. In addition, five players were named to the NABC Honors Court.
This marks the sixth year in a row the Storm have been recognized as a team for their achievements in the classroom. During the 2021-22 academic year, head coach Brad Bjorkgren's squad compiled a 3.20 grade point average.
Individually, Andrew Curran, Rhett Darland, Buck Eagleburger, Chris Honz and Ben Wolgemuth were all named to the NABC Honors Court. Darland and Honz are repeat honorees from a year ago, while Curran, Eagleburger and Wolgemuth are first-time selections.
The NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards recognize men's basketball programs that completed the academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The NABC Honors Court, meanwhile, includes junior, senior and graduate student men's basketball players who finished the year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
