Men’s basketball drops low-scoring affair to Luther

DECORAH, Iowa – The Simpson College men's basketball team took the court for the fifth time in 10 days and dropped a low-scoring affair to Luther, 54-48.

A 10-2 run capped off by a dunk from Tajen Ross gave Simpson (4-16, 1-10 A-R-C) a brief lead at 34-33 before the Norse (6-12, 3-7 A-R-C) distanced themselves with the game's next 10 points. Back-to-back three-pointers from Ross and a layup from Chris Honz had the Storm within one, 46-45, as the clock dipped below four and a half minutes to play, but the home team got back out in front by six and later iced the game with a 3-point make by Aidan Bailey.

The two teams battled out to a 16-all draw in the first half as Caden Rehmeier sank a three to tie the game with 10:43 remaining in the half. Scoring droughts by both teams put the game at just 25-24 seven minutes later and Luther added a pair of layups in the final three minutes to lead 29-24 at halftime.

Ross was the lone player to reach double figures for the Storm as he tallied 23 points to go with eight rebounds. Honz added seven points and seven rebounds, and Andrew Curran and Deontei Johnson combined for seven of Simpson's 10 steals.
