GALLATIN, Tenn. – Freshman Jack Hutchinson knocked down five triples and Chris Honz had a double-double, but the Simpson College men's basketball team came up short in a 78-61 game against Tufts to close out the calendar year.
Hutchinson's second trifecta of the game helped Simpson (4-7) gain a 28-26 lead with 3:46 left in the first half, but the Jumbos (4-7) closed out the frame on a 15-3 run and didn't let up in the final 20 minutes to secure their second win at the Music City Classic.
Chris Honz scored eight of his 15 points in the first half and finished the game with 10 rebounds for his third double-double of the season. Hutchinson was nearly perfect behind the arc with just one miss in six attempts for a career-high 17 points, and Andrew Curran added 10 points and five assists in the effort.
