Simpson duo named honorable mention all-conference

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Simpson College men's basketball duo of Chris Honz and Tajen Ross both landed on the All-American Rivers Conference Honorable Mention team, as announced by the league on Thursday.

Honz and Tajen were two of the top-3 scorers for the Storm as they finished the season 5-20 overall and 2-14 in the conference. They led the team with 104 and 60 rebounds, respectively.

Originally from Omaha, Neb., Honz earned honorable mention all-conference honors after averaging 10.1 points and 6.6 rebounds, which ranked third in the league. He scored 10 or more points in 15 games and logged five double-doubles throughout the season. The 2020-21 first team all-conference pick shot 56.3 percent from the floor, 25.0 percent from distance, and 43.8 percent at the line.

Tajen Ross, honorable mention all-conference
Originally from Adel, Iowa, Ross earned honorable mention all-conference recognition after averaging 20.8 points and 6.0 rebounds per game during Simpson's final 10 contests of the season. He scored 15+ points in each of those contests with six games over the 20-point plateau, and pulled down five or more rebounds in all but three games. Ross shot 46.5 percent from the field, 36.5 percent from behind the arc and 72.5 percent at the stripe.
