Trio named CSC Academic All-District

INDIANOLA, Iowa – Three members of the Simpson College football team earned Academic All-District honors from College Sports Communicators Tuesday.

Joe Bream, Keegan Grimes and Reed Worth were recognized for their efforts both on the field and in the classroom. This is the first academic all-district honor for all three men.

A sophomore offensive lineman from Urbandale, Iowa, Bream is majoring in health and exercise science. He started all 10 games at center and helped protect a trio of quarterbacks that threw for 2,910 yards to rank third in the conference.

Grimes is a physical education major and health and exercise science minor that started all 10 games at defensive back. He amassed 41.0 total tackles, including 27 solo, and had two pass breakups.

Worth is majoring in sports administration with minors in coaching and health and exercise science. He recorded 1,157 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns, both league-highs, over the course of Simpson's 10-game season.

The College Sports Communicators, formerly known as College of Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA), recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. To qualify, all nominees must be a sophomore in academic standing, a starter or key reserve, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher. The full team can be viewed by clicking here.

All three honorees will be placed on the Academic All-America ballot with first-, second- and third-team honorees slated to be announced in December.
