Dillenburg named IIAC Player of the Week

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - With four goals in the team's first three games, Simpson women's soccer player Nicole Dillenburg earned Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors for the period ending Sept. 4, 2011.

A senior from Urbandale, Iowa, the midfielder has been a big reason for the Storm's 3-0 start, the program's best since 1999.

Dillenburg's Season Stats

The three-time, First Team All-Iowa Conference performer scored two goals apiece in Simpson's first two games, giving her seven multi-goal games and 30 goals for her career. Dillenburg sits in a tie for sixth on Simpson's all-time goals scored list.

After falling behind 1-0 early against Nebraska Wesleyan in the season-opener on Sept. 1, Dillenburg connected on the equalizer and later scored the game-winner in a 3-1 comeback win. Her first goal against St. Catherine on Sept. 3 would have been enough, but she added an insurance tally as the Storm went on to win 2-0. Clarke kept Dillenburg out of the net on Sept. 4, but Simpson improved to 3-0 with the 2-1 win.

Dillenburg and the Storm return to the pitch this weekend when they travel to Minnesota for a pair of non-conference contests. Simpson plays Bethel on Friday, Sept. 9 at 2 p.m. and faces Crown in a 2 p.m. kickoff Saturday.
