WAYNE, Neb. - Mallory Hoyt scroed the only goal of the game in the 17th minute and Wayne State beat Simpson 1-0 on Thursday night.
Kaylie Hopper assisted on the goal for the Wildcats (3-3-1). The hosts outshot Simpson 10-5 on the night, putting four shots on goal.
The Storm (5-2-1) didn't put a shot on goal against their NCAA Division II opponents. Nicole Dillenbur attempted three shots and Jess Toyne made three saves in 45 minutes in goal.
The Storm kick off Iowa Conference play this weekend when they travel to Cedar Rapids to take on Coe in a 1 p.m. start Saturday, Sept. 24.
