Storm come away with draw at Augustana

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The Simpson women's soccer team got on the board first but Augustana (Ill.) answered and the two teams couldn't decide a winner in a 1-1 draw on Sunday.

Ashlee Krider's first goal of the season came in the 20th minute, giving the Storm (6-2-2) a 1-0 lead. Corie Peterson assisted on the play.

Ashley Higuchi tied the affair in the 27th minute for the Vikings (5-2-1). Taylor Moesle assisted on the play.

Neither team could cross the goal line the remainder of the game. Augustana out-shot Simpson 22-18 and the two teams traded momentum in extra time. Simpson took seven shots to one for Augustana in the first overtime and Augustana took six shots to zero for Simpson in the second overtime.

Both goalkeepers held the back line for their respective defense. Megan Petersen made nine saves between the posts for the Storm and Kayla Radloff had 10 for the Vikings.

Simpson has another non-conference contest Wednesday, Sept. 28 when it travels to UW-River Falls for a 4 p.m. start.
