Taylor notches double-double in blowout win at BVU

STORM LAKE, Iowa -- Jenna Taylor went 5 of 6 from behind the arc and tallied 22 points to help Simpson claim a 75-53 win over Buena Vista in American Rivers Conference action on Wednesday.

Taylor added 12 rebounds and shot 61.5 percent from the field to lead the Storm (15-3, 7-2 American Rivers), and has now scored 20-or-more points on eight occasions this season. Kia Rasmussen chipped in 12 points and Cassie Chubb scored 10.

The second quarter saw several lead changes between both teams, with the Beavers (5-14, 0-9) overcoming a seven-point deficit in under four minutes. The Storm were able to take a slim one-point lead, before their counterparts went back on top.

After going down by two with almost four minutes remaining on the clock in the second, Taylor jump-started a 10-0 run to end the half with a triple, then Rasmussen followed with one of her own before the team took a 32-24 lead into the lockerroom.

Coming out of intermission, the Beavers clawed back to within one and would never regain the lead the rest of the way.

In the fourth quarter, Simpson went on a 11-0 run fueled by five-different players scoring to put the game out of reach for good.

Morgan Muhlbauer had 12 points and seven rebounds to lead Buena Vista in both categories.

GAME NOTES

The Storm's bench outscored the Beavers' bench 27-16 during the contest. Simpson's defense stayed strong once again and forced 15 turnovers, compared to having eight miscues.
