Hot-shooting Storm run away from Concordia

MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Jenna Taylor scored 22 points, Cameron Kincaid finished with 15, and the Simpson women's basketball team forced 32 turnovers in an 86-69 win over Concordia-Moorhead on Saturday.

Rachel Freland added 13 points and four steals for the Storm (7-1), who shot a season-high 53.2 percent from the field to win their fourth in a row. Simpson shot 60 percent in a 57-point first half.

Simpson took a 3-2 lead on Taylor's 3-pointer with 9:32 left in the first quarter and led the rest of the way.

The Storm pulled away with a 9-0 run midway through the second quarter, building a 16-point lead. Kincaid opened the rally with a three-point play, Freland made a layup and hit two free throws following a steal, and Kincaid gave Simpson a 44-28 advantage on a jumper with 5:50 left in the quarter.

Janey Botkins hit a trey with 5 seconds left in the first half as the Storm took a 57-42 lead into the locker room.

Mira Ellefson scored 15 points for the Cobbers (3-6).

Madie Bacon came off the bench to score 10 points for the Storm.
