Chubb, Kincaid lead Storm over the Dutch

PELLA, Iowa -- Cassie Chubb and Cameron Kincaid both scored in double figures to help Simpson cruise to a 61-48 victory over the Central Dutch on Wednesday and push the win streak to 35 in the series.

Chubb and Kincaid scored 10 and 11, respectively, while Rachel Freland added nine points. Jenna Taylor came a point shy of securing a double-double for the Storm (13-3, 5-2 American Rivers) after scoring nine points and grabbing 13 rebounds.

The Storm jumped out to a quick 6-1 lead over Central (6-10, 2-5 A-R-C) in the opening three minutes, before letting the hosts trim the lead to one. Alaira Tyus netted five points in the first quarter to give Simpson a quick jump and take an 18-10 advantage into the second stanza.

Simpson had six different players score during the second period, with Madie Bacon tallying four points to pace the squad. The Storm increased the lead to as much as 21 in the third quarter after a made shot by Taylor at the 6:42 mark. The Dutch went on a 16-4 run to close the quarter, but would not get any closer for the remainder of the contest.

Bri Smith tied a season high with 15 points for Central, while Kendall Brown paced the team with her fifth-double digit rebound effort of the season with 17.

GAME NOTES

The Storm forced 28 turnovers during the American Rivers Conference showdown and matched their season high with 18 steals. Central showed why its the top-rebounding team in the conference on Wednesday and amassed 55 rebounds, while Simpson managed 38.
