Storm track and field produce five all-conference honors at A-R-C Championships

DUBUQUE, Iowa -- The Simpson College men's and women's track and field programs tallied five all-conference performers at the American Rivers Conference Championships, hosted by the University of Dubuque.

The men carded a sixth-place finish and the women ended eighth after the three-day event came to a close Saturday.

On Friday, the duo of Ryan Courtney and Spencer Moon captured all-conference accolades with a top-three placing in their respective events. Courtney ran the second-fastest time in school history in the 3,000-meter steeplechase to grab a runner-up finish with a time of 9:22.84. Moon trimmed 38 seconds off a previous best to cross the finish in 31.26.07 in the 10,000 meters for third place, which stands as the fifth-fastest mark in team history

Moon carried the momentum in the final day of competition with another third-place performance, this time in the 1,500 meters. He ran a 3:53.22 to move into second all-time in program history.

Mason Spree had a distance of 51.86 meters to increase his school record in the hammer throw to end second among league competitors. Craig Garrison sprinted to third in the 200 meters with a time of 22.00 seconds in the finals. In the preliminaries, Garrison tallied the ninth-fastest time in team history of 21.91 seconds.

The 4x100 and 4x400-meter relays just missed the podium with two fourth-place finishes. Max Cleveland recorded fifth in the 110-meter hurdles.

Jamie Glanz kept herself busy in the heptathlon during the championships. Glanz was second in the high jump and javelin, third in the 800 meters and shot put, and fourth in long jump to grab fifth place. She had a score of 3,985 points to clip her previous best of 3,562 points.

Sophie Hall ended eighth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a personal-best time of 12:10.42.

The 4x800-meter relay of Abby Loecke, Mackenzie Laughlin, Kaya Young and Kyli Orr crossed the finish line in sixth. The Storm's other two relay squads recorded eighth-place results.
