Men's soccer battles in loss to No. 11 Wis.-Whitewater

WHITEWATER, Wis. - The Simpson men's soccer team went shot-for-shot with one of the best teams in the nation but couldn't come away with an upset.

Justin Stanko scored two goals and No. 11 Wis.-Whitewater beat Simpson 2-1 on Monday.

Coming off a hard-fought, 1-1 draw against Iowa Conference rival Luther on Saturday, the Storm (5-8-2) were outshot by just one against Whitewater, 17-16. 

Stanko scored on a header in the ninth minute and added another goal in the 54th minute for the Warhawks (13-2), who won their second game in a row.

Simpson only goal came with 24 seconds left when junior reserve Micah Watson scored his first career goal on an assist from Zach Halder.
