Simpson drops wild affair at Nebraska Wesleyan

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Simpson men's soccer team surrendered four goals in the second half, spoiling an early lead in a 4-2 loss to Nebraska Wesleyan on Wednesday.

Will Weber and Drew Miller scored two goals apiece for the Prairie Wolves (6-0), who scored three unanswered goals to start the second half to take a 3-1 lead after falling behind 1-0 in the first minute of the game. Will Weber scored the first two goals, Drew Miller made it 3-1 in the 63rd minute and added an insurance goal in the 85th minute.

The Storm (3-2-1) scored their quickest goal of the season when Collin Hemann found the back of the net just 56 seconds into the game. Simpson outshot Nebraska Wesleyan 6-2 in the first period and controlled the run of play.

The second half was a different story as Simpson fell behind by two goals. Cody Jacobson cut the Prairie Wolf lead to 3-2 when he knocked in a header off a corner kick in the 71st minute. Miller's goal stalled the comeback, though, as Nebraska Wesleyan claimed just its second win in the last eight meetings in the series.
