Weekend opener at Coe suspended in ninth inning

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The American Rivers Conference series opener between Simpson and Coe has been suspended in the top of the ninth due to weather in Cedar Rapids. The game will resume on Monday, April 29, with the series doubleheader to follow.

The Storm led the game 5-4 going into the ninth and had a runner at second base with two outs. Zach Fuller had a two-run double in the first, Sam Campin and Ian Baldwin scored in the fifth, and Will Carlock drove in Simpson's go-ahead run in the sixth.

Coe scored once in the first, twice in the third, and once in the fifth.

Simpson had amassed 15 hits in the game, highlighted by a 5-for-5 day from Baldwin. Trey Castile got the start on the mound and pitched 4.1 innings before giving way to Dylan Schlee. After a brief weather delay, Eli Feekin came in and worked a 1-2-3 inning to keep the Storm ahead by one going into the ninth.
