Simpson upended by Augustana

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Simpson College baseball team was upended 18-3 by Augustana on Sunday.

The Vikings (4-1) took a 13-0 lead before Simpson (2-1) got on the board in the fourth inning. Ian Baldwin opened the frame with a triple and scored on a groundout two batters later. The two teams traded a pair of runs in the fifth, with the Storm's runs coming on RBI singles by Joel Sampson and Baldwin.

Augustana, which has qualified for the NCAA DIII National Tournament the last two seasons, scored its final three runs in the sixth.

UP NEXT
Simpson was originally scheduled to play a trio of games in Missouri next weekend, but will instead host three games against Hamline at McBride Field. The Storm and Pipers will play two games on Saturday followed by a single game at Sunday. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. both days.
