Dance team places ninth at nationals

INDIANOLA, Iowa — The Simpson dance team came home with a pair of top-ten national finishes at the 2017 NCA & NDA Collegiate Cheer and Dance Championships held April 6-8 in Daytona Beach, Fla. 

Under the leadership of third-year head coach Paige Curtis, the Storm placed ninth in Division III in both the Jazz and Team Performance categories, the first time the team has placed in the top ten at nationals.  

Simpson received a score of 8.432 in the Jazz competition and 8.308 in Team Performance. The routines were choreographed by Curtis and sophomore team member Madi Paulson. 

The Team Performance category is a single routine made up of Jazz, Pom and Hip Hop and is meant to reward the most well-rounded team.
