#StormTop10 Moments No. 3: Men's golf surges to second at IIAC Championship

If only they had one more day.

Inclement weather shortened the 2017 IIAC Men's Golf Championship to three rounds instead of four, the only thing slowing down the Storm. After starting in sixth place, first-year head coach Justin Livingston's crew turned in the two lowest rounds of the tournament at Indianola Country Club, posting a second-place finish in the team standings. 

Led by all-conference performers Reid Cobb (fifth), Korbin Sesker (6th) and Andrew Lallier (8th), the Storm closed the tournament with rounds of 304 and 298 for the program's best finish in more than 35 years. Simpson edged Nebraska Wesleyan by one stroke, finishing nine back of conference champion Luther. The three all-conference performers were the most in school history.

One more round of golf may have been the difference between the Storm finishing second and capturing the program's first conference title since 1970. We will never know. What we do know, however, is that the Storm have a great shot at finishing the job next year. Simpson graduated a grand total of zero golfers from the 2017 roster.
