CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – When Morgan DenBeste was looking for a school to continue her academic and athletic careers, she knew she wanted a place that allowed her to balance both aspects of her life.

When she discovered Simpson College, DenBeste knew it was the perfect fit.

"I chose Simpson College because of the welcoming atmosphere, great health and exercise program, and strong volleyball program," said DenBeste. "I was also drawn to Simpson because it supports a healthy balance between my academics and athletic career, allowing me to enjoy a lifestyle that integrates both aspects of my life effectively."

As a junior on the Simpson College women's volleyball team, DenBeste has enjoyed competing in the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C), one of the top NCAA Division III conferences in the country.

"Competing in the American Rivers Conference is a rewarding experience due to the constant high level of play and ongoing improvement among teams," said DenBeste. "The competitive environment fosters a culture where each team challenges the others, increasing overall performance."

When asked about her favorite memory at Simpson, DenBeste reflected on a match against Central College last year.

"It was a five-set match, and we ended up winning the fifth set, 16-14," she said. "The atmosphere in the gym was electric, and celebrating the victory with my teammates made it an unforgettable experience."

In addition to being a member of the women's volleyball team, DenBeste is also involved with the Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) and Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).

When she isn't competing, DenBeste enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, and going on long walks with her two Australian Shepherds.

One of DenBeste's top bucket list items is to go backpacking in Europe.

"I love traveling and would love to spend a month going to new places," she said. "My top places to see in Europe would be Athens, Paris, Vienna, Dublin, Brussels, and London."

DenBeste is majoring in health and exercise science and hopes to enroll in a physician assistant program after completing her undergraduate degree.

"I have always been passionate about the medical field, and I hope to pursue a career that allows me to make a meaningful impact on people's lives," said DenBeste.

One of the most valuable lessons DenBeste has learned during her time at Simpson is that stepping out of her comfort zone opens the door to countless exciting opportunities.

When asked who the most influential person in her life is, DenBeste responded with her mom.

"She is always by my side whenever I need her, providing support and encouragement," she said. "I am truly grateful for everything she does for me."

When DenBeste isn't at the gym or in class, she can often be found at the Kent Campus Center.

"Millie's, our campus coffee shop, is a popular spot where I enjoy a chai tea latte while working on homework or catching up with friends in the common area," she said.

Something that many people don't know about DenBeste is that she enjoys cleaning.

"I think it is a great stress reliever and helps me clear my mind," she said.

When asked what she wants the world to know about Simpson College, DenBeste highlighted the institution's inviting atmosphere and endless opportunities on campus.

"Simpson provides extensive opportunities for student engagement, such as the various organizations and programs accessible to students," she said. "These opportunities allow students to develop their skills and pursue their interests in a collaborative setting."
