Meyer, Seiler garner awards after successful opening weekend
INDIANOLA, Iowa – Following a 3-1 opening weekend, freshmen Ella Meyer and Emmy Seiler were selected to the Central/Grinnell All-Tournament Team. Meyer was also voted the American Rivers Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
Meyer earned the starting libero role all four games and averaged 4.73 digs per set. She had 28 digs in Simpson's five-set victory over Rose Hulman (5.6/set) and added at least 13 in the other three matches. The Epworth, Iowa product also tallied 20 assists and three aces.
Seiler led the Storm offensively with 41 kills (2.73/set) and a .282 hitting percentage. She had seven kills and no errors in 19 attempts during the opening match the weekend and then produced eight, 15 and 11 kills across the final three games. The Liberty, Mo. native registered 18 digs, six blocks and three aces as well.
The Storm head to Wisconsin this weekend for the UW-River Falls Tournament where they will face Saint Benedict, Bethel and St. Olaf.
