
Storm defeat Saint Benedict to achieve best start since 2013
RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The Storm recorded their fourth win of the season with a four set victory over Saint Benedict in the first game of the UW-River Falls Tournament.
This brings the Simpson women's volleyball team to 4-1 on the season, the best start for the program since 2013. The victory over Saint Benedict was led by sophomore Emily William's 15 kills as well as freshman Emmy Seiler's 10 kills.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Simpson had a slow start to the first set of tonight's match, falling to an early 4-0 run by Saint Benedict. A service error allowed the Storm to regain possession of the match, playing point-for-point until mid set. Saint Benedict went on a nine point run to finish the match 25-6.
- The Storm came out much stronger in set two, clawing their way back into the match. The score stayed tied for most of the match. A kill by Peyton Mitchell sealed the second set victory.
- In set three, Simpson started out with an early 12-7 lead with contributions from Emily Williams, Emmy Seiler, and Jada Schmidt. Saint Benedict attempted to make a comeback, but the Storm held the lead, finishing with a kill by Peyton Mitchell and a final score of 25-23.
- Simpson came out with an early 3-0 run in set four and they held the lead all the way to the end. A mid set 3-0 run solidified their lead, and the Storm finished the set, and the match, on a kill by Emily Williams, winning 25-20.

UP NEXT
The Storm return to competition tomorrow morning to take on Bethel (Minn.) at 11 a.m. followed by an afternoon matchup against St. Olaf at 3 p.m. to conclude the UW-River Falls Tournament.
