Simpson Athletics reconfigures structure of volleyball programs, Papes named head men’s coach
INDIANOLA, Iowa – Simpson College Athletics has announced a new structural approach to its men's and women's volleyball programs, creating a model designed to strengthen both teams and support long-term success.
Originally hired as head men's and women's volleyball coach, Dani Kohut Lynch will now oversee both programs as the director of volleyball while retaining duties as head coach of the women's program. Ike Papes joins the Storm staff as head coach of the men's team and assistant coach for the women's squad.
"This coaching structure ensures that both our men's and women's volleyball teams have the leadership and support necessary to compete at a high level," said director of athletics Marty Bell. "With Dani's experience and Ike's fresh perspective, we're excited for the future of Storm volleyball."
Papes comes to Simpson from William Penn University, where he was a four-year letterwinner for the Statesmen. The Elwood, Ill. native earned NAIA Second Team All-America honors as a junior and senior and was a three-time all-conference player. Along with his collegiate playing experience, Papes brings coaching knowledge from his time spent with Grand View University and Uno Volleyball Club in Joliet, Ill.
"I am very excited to begin coaching here at Simpson", said Papes. "After meeting with the men's team and talking to the staff, I could not pass up the opportunity to start my career at such a great place. I look forward to the success of this program and the opportunity to coach the sport that I love at Simpson."
