Five swimmers earn Academic All-District honors

INDIANOLA, Iowa - Five total student-athletes on the men and women's swimming and diving teams earned Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Communicators (CSC), as announced on Tuesday.

This is the CSC's first year officially sponsoring men and women's swimming and diving teams for the Academic All-District teams. Previously, swimming and diving were "at–large sports", meaning student-athletes had to compete with numerous other sports to be named.

The nominees for the Academic All-District team had to participate in at least 50 percent of the team's events, be on a collegiate roster for at least two years, and maintain a non-rounded grade-point average of at least 3.50. The women's team saw four athletes receive the honor, with Breana Hinson, Kate Minette, Katie Oosterhuis, and Katelyn Smith all being selected. On the men's side, Jay Ceperley picked up honors.

Both the men and women recently concluded their seasons at the American Rivers Conference Championships, highlighted with Minette claiming conference titles in the 50 and 100 yard freestyles. The quintet also holds a combined 15 school records among them, with records coming in three events at the A-R-C Championships. Minette set a school record in the 100 yard freestyle, while both the women's 200 yard freestyle relay and men's 800 yard freestyle relay teams also set school-record marks.
