Simpson remains undefeated against Buena Vista

INDIANOLA, Iowa – Nicole Dillenburg scored two goals in the first 20 minutes as Simpson blanked Buena Vista 5-0 Saturday afternoon at Buxton Stadium, picking up its first Iowa Conference win of the season on the way.

Simpson (5-5, 1-1 IIAC) compiled a season-high 28 shots on the day, putting 11 on goal. The 28 shots for Simpson are the most since the Storm took the same number against Central on Oct. 18, 2008.

Buena Vista (2-8, 0-2 IIAC) spent a majority of the day defending its own third of the field, taking four shots while putting one on goal.

With the win, Simpson improves its all-time series record against BVU to 13-0.

Dillenburg's first goal of the match came less than two minutes in when she lofted a shot into the top right corner of the frame from 20 yards out. Her next goal – and fifth of the season – came in the 20th minute, a low-liner that found the back of the net from the top of the box.

Katherine Bird's third goal of the season came just over two minutes after Dillenburg's second, as she gave the Storm a 3-0 at the 21:41 mark, a lead that held true into intermission.

Mollie McMahon converted on her third goal of the season in the 80th minute, placing a shot into the top right corner of the box from five yards out off an assist from Corrie Peterson. Peterson sparked the final score of the match as well, when Natalie Erhardt headed her corner kick into the net for a 5-0 Simpson advantage.

Jessica Toyne earned the win in goal, needing only one save for her second shutout of the year. Justine McGarvey took the loss for the Beavers, allowing three goals. Turissa Moreland closed the match out for Buena Vista, grabbing a game-high six saves in the final 63 minutes 41 seconds.

Simpson remains home for its next contest, a 5 p.m. start against Central on Wednesday at Buxton Stadium.
